Granted, it does take effort.

One does have to decide to actually decide to move small muscles in order to do it.  For some though, it seems incredibly difficult. You may even know a few people, for which the effort seems excruciating.

But, all of us are capable.

Which makes it difficult to understand, after making eye contact, why someone would not reciprocate such a simple gesture. What makes this offering so challenging? It’s a gesture that pleases, a movement that uplifts, an expression that warms, an  act that acknowledges.

After all, it’s just a smile.
