Stasis

I can see mountains,

but don’t know their shape.

I can feel features,

but don’t know your face.

I can see the sun,

but don’t feel it’s warmth on my skin.

I know all the answers,

just don’t know how to begin again.

I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive,

but paralyzed.

I can sense all emotions

just don’t know how to let them in.

I see all of the willing hands,

but can’t convey my suffering.

I know how to navigate

every twist and turn.

Yet I see the maps as

kindling to burn.

I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive,

but paralyzed.

I know I can walk,

and I feel I can run.

I know that my limits,

stretch as far as the sun.

Then I feel the earth

beneath my feet as I walk.

Grounding, and limiting,

and tethering me to this rock.

I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive,

but paralyzed.

I witness the sunrise,

and appreciate the dusk.

Yet these incredible wonders

can’t animate this husk.

Come towards me the ocean,

and roll back the tide,

But none of these motions,

can move me inside.

I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive,

but paralyzed.

I’m alive, I’m alive,

but paralyzed.

I’m alive,

but paralyzed.

I’m paralyzed.

Humbly yours,

J
