Desideratum

Take my clothes

and I shield

myself, with rags

of memory.

Remove the sun

and stars from

the sky, and

I’ll start a fire.

Take my money,

my job, and my

security, and I’ll

beg to live.

Seize my music

and I’ll listen,

to the birds, and

the beats of my heart.

Wrest from me

youth, and

I’ll live on wisdom,

consideration, and care.

Capture my sight,

taste, hearing,

and smell, I’ll replace

them with feelings.

Take my strength,

my vitality and speed,

I’ll find in my mind,

all that I need.

Each, any, and

all things taken,

I will manage without.

But, create in me

a need,

and I am yours

forever.

Humbly yours,

J
