Candor on a Cozy Couch

There’s no need for a mask,

or to make a scene.

And no need for performance,

for you to mean, more to me.

There’s no cause for costume,

or fancy jewelry.

And no need for makeup,

nor any perfumery.

There’s no need to augment,

or change your normal tone.

Your eyes are what speak to me,

and make me less alone.

There’s no need to put on,

any outlandish airs.

It’s ok to be, my perfect one,

wrinkled clothes and undone hair.

You have no need to fear

that I’d judge you, for who you are.

No makeup, sweatpants, and au natural,

you are the loveliest by far.

Humbly yours,

J
