Intangibles

Have you ever stayed in bed, if only to avoid the world for a few minutes longer?  Maybe you curled into yourself in defiance of the tendrils of light meandering through the slits of your decrepit, dusty blinds?   Maybe you heard the ringtone of someone on your mind, and checked your phone, only to find the sound emanated from your subconscious that longed to feel important to the world?

Have you felt a need to move through your social chore as rapidly as possible, yet want to look in everyone’s eyes as you pass?  Has the need to connect ever felt so pressing?  Would the subtle raising of the left side of a stranger’s mouth, and the flicker of an eyebrow when selecting fresh fruits, sate your restless temperament?

Do you unconsciously reach for the soul of the artist that pours out songs causing your soul to weep?   Does the crescendo of the classical climax enervate your composure?  Does the pulse and insistence of a beat and deep thrumming bass elevate you?

Have you tried, to just garner a smile from a stranger?  Has it ever just felt good to receive that smile however innocuous?  Have you ever felt whole in the midst of a completely shattered emotional state?

Do you reach desperately, with all your actions, to belong to anything?  Do you seek internally, to love yourself in any way?

Can you still dream?

Can you still feel?

Still trying to be,

Humbly yours.
